The 2013 Rhondda Rollercoaster was a huge success. 217 entrants set off to walk the Rhondda Hills on a blustery day that contained heavy showers. Whilst their goretex was dampened, their spirits were not, and everyone seemed to have a great time. You can read some of their positive comments below. Finally, please note that there will not be a Rhondda Rollercoaster in 2014 due to the South Wales LDWA being committed with organising the Valleys 100. If you are interested in entering this unique event, please note that you will need to be a member of the LDWA and to have completed a 50 mile qualifying event.

Comments from entrants (many thanks for the feedback)
The Rhondda Rollercoaster was fantastic today folks, really well organised with loads of smiling faces helping, many thanks. The sandwiches and cakes were amazing, (as always) and I ate far too much, (as always). Looking forward to Where Ravens Dare next.
As usual what a fantastic event. My favourite sandwiches ever. And awesome soup and cake too. Think you guys should just open a restaurant.
Superb sandwiches!!! – thank you!
Just completed the Rhondda Rollercoaster and had a fabulous day meeting some great people, I’d just like to congratulate the organisers and helpers, the event was really well organised and the food was superb, (particularly the cakes !!) – Well done all involved, thank you.
Sorry to add to your email but Thank You and the other chap (sorry, I have forgotten his name) you thanked this AM for a really great event. Well named indeed. Sandwiches at CP2 were superb, soup and cakes at finish wonderful. See you for Where Eagles Dare. An absolutely excellent day.
Thank you to all those involved in making yesterday’s Rollercoaster another fab day. Appreciate the early start and long day standing in the wind and rain (trying to keep the chocolate biscuits from getting soggy!!), all the hard work that goes into the organising and planning; the cakes, sarnies and soups and the cheery smiles and encouragement! Thank you!
Great soup Cheryl. Revived me at the end of the walk.
Thanks also to you and your team for a great day out today – salmon and cream cheese sandwiches are now a big favourite. I have a recipe for onion relish (in the ham sandwiches and very nice) which I could send you if it would help for the 100. I also hope you know how to make jelly!
Thanks to Dave, Gwyn and the incredible team from the South Wales LDWA for one amazing event yesterday. I suffered over the last 4 miles but my two walking companions Paul and Tracey kept me going and we managed to beat out 10 hour target by 29 mins. Very proud to be a member of this group.
I completely agree. Great event, v friendly and the food was phenomenal. The walk wasn’t bad either!
Well done Cheryl!
Thanks to everyone who was involved in the event, which was my first of its kind and probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Jacq gives me hope as I thought I was the only one who suffered, everyone else looked so fresh at the end eating their soup, I could barely talk! The event was so well organised and everyone was so friendly – and the refreshments – don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a piece(s) of cake more!
I would just like to pass on my thanks to the South Wales LDWA for your excellent organisation of this event on Saturday. From start to finish everyone we met was very friendly and helpful and the food was superb (especially the cakes !!). I will definitely be doing this again in 2 years and have entered the “Where Ravens Dare” walk in October.
